         Promoting Good Urinary Health

Cats are particularly susceptible to a diversity of problems associated with inflammation of the urinary tract, a condition known as Feline Urological Syndrome (FUS).

This results from irritants to the urinary tract caused by the crystallization of certain minerals, namely struvite and oxalate. This inflammation may lead to partial or complete obstruction of the urinary tract. Left untreated, the syndrome can be fatal.

The prevention and early detection of these problems by the pet owner are therefore essential since Feline Urological Syndrome accounts for some 10% of all veterinary visits.

How The Use Of Chatonnel Can Help

  1. The white particles of Chatonnel light litter allow for easy detection of blood in the urine, an important symptom of Feline Urological Syndrome.

  2. A powder (Cramethychlor®) added to the Chatonnel particles adheres to the pads and fur of the cat's paws when it uses the litter box. This powder is ingested by the cat during its regular grooming, helping to preserve the cat's urinary health.

Cramethychlor® Powder Contains The Following Three Components:

  • sodium chloride (NaCl), which promotes thirst, encouraging the cat to drink water;
  • ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA), a calcium chelator (binder) that helps prevent the formation of oxalate crystals; and,
  • a special mixture of green plants which act positively on the urinary system.
